Founded in Jayuya, Puerto Rico, Amasar is led by Marisol Villalobos, a scientist and former chemistry professor, and Jesús Martes, a chemical engineer and former pharma executive. Both were raised on coffee farms and bring together their deep connection to agriculture with scientific expertise to transform food systems for the better.

Environmentally, breadfruit is a climate-smart crop: it grows in abundance, regenerates soil, sequesters carbon, and requires minimal inputs to thrive. A single tree can produce over 200 fruits annually, making it a sustainable solution for feeding both people and the planet.
WHY BREADFRUIT?
Breadfruit — locally known as panapén or pana — is one of the most powerful superfoods the world has yet to fully embrace. According to researchers at the University of British Columbia, breadfruit is poised to become the next global superfood, and we’re proud to lead the way in making that vision a reality.
